North Carolina Central and Southern University Prepare for Quarterback Showdown in MEAC/SWAC Challenge

The MEAC/SWAC Challenge is approaching, and both North Carolina Central and Southern University are gearing up for an exciting matchup. One of the key factors that will determine the outcome of the game is the quarterback position.

North Carolina Central has announced that Walker Harris will be their starting quarterback for the event. Meanwhile, Southern University is keeping their choice under wraps, with head coach Terrance Graves refusing to reveal who will be leading the offense.

Graves coached Cam McCoy during his time at Jackson State, and McCoy has since transferred to Southern University. McCoy, a dual-threat quarterback, showed his prowess last season at Jackson State, throwing for 310 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 163 yards and two touchdowns.

Trei Oliver, the head coach of North Carolina Central, is not concerned about not knowing who will be Southern University's starting quarterback. "We've been watching film on the transfers they've brought in at the quarterback position," Oliver said.

Southern University has also been keeping their cards close to their chest. Jalen Woods and Cam McCoy are the two quarterbacks in contention for the starting spot. Graves has a tradition of keeping the starting quarterback for the MEAC/SWAC Challenge a secret, and he has not yet announced who will be starting.

However, during the MEAC/SWAC Press Conference, Graves stated that the starting quarterback will be announced on Saturday. It remains to be seen whether it will be Woods or McCoy who will take the field for Southern University.

Meanwhile, T.C. Taylor and Jackson State have announced Jason Brown as their starting quarterback for the 2023 MEAC/SWAC Challenge. Last season, Florida A&M announced Daniel Richardson as their starting quarterback.

As the MEAC/SWAC Challenge draws near, both North Carolina Central and Southern University are preparing for a quarterback showdown. The question on everyone's mind is: who will take the field for Southern University on Saturday? We'll find out soon enough.
