In a recent turn of events, a Washington County District Court judge has handed down a sentence of almost five years in prison to Shawn Eric Lewis Jr., one of the five men involved in the brutal robbery of a Minnesota casino winner.

On Tuesday, Judge Siv Mjanger handed down the 58-month sentence to Lewis Jr., who pleaded guilty in January to first-degree aggravated robbery that took place in December 2023. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, had won over $38,000 from Treasure Island Casino and was violently robbed upon returning home to Minneapolis.

Lewis Jr. was joined in the robbery by four other individuals, three of whom—Deangelo Romaine Jacox, Tristin Tyler Jacox Mann, and Lewis Jr. himself—have been named in information available so far. The exact identities of the other two suspects are yet to be fully revealed.

The crime left the 68-year-old victim "beaten and bloodied." Despite the efforts of Judge Mjanger, an appeal for leniency on Lewis' behalf from his attorneys, citing his addiction to fentanyl, was rejected. Instead, the judge described the crime as a "very, very violent act" that could have proven fatal.

Unfortunately, the victim still suffers from the after-effects of the assault, which he initially thought would claim his life.

In summary, Shawn Eric Lewis Jr., Deangelo Romaine Jacox, and Tristin Tyler Jacox Mann have been identified as the suspects involved in the robbery. The identities of the other two accused are yet to be disclosed. The case serves as a sobering reminder of the brutal consequences of such violent acts.

  1. The sentencing of Shawn Eric Lewis Jr., one of the suspects involved in the brutal robbery at Treasure Island Casino, was covered in the general news, as Judge Siv Mjanger handed down a 58-month prison sentence for his role in the crime.
  2. While Shawn Eric Lewis Jr.'s attorneys pleaded for leniency, citing his addiction to fentanyl, the crime-and-justice department took a harsh stance, considering the violent nature of the robbery and the long-term impact it had on the victim, who was left "beaten and bloodied."
