Costs of Eating Out in European Vacation Destinations

As the summer vacation season approaches, travelers on a budget are seeking affordable destinations for dining experiences. A recent analysis by Ferrygogo has revealed some surprising findings about the cost of dining out in various European countries.

In southern Europe, dining out is proving to be more budget-friendly compared to other regions. Cities like Seville, Valencia, Malaga, Lisbon, Porto, and Skopje offer relatively affordable dining options. In Seville, a dinner for two costs approximately 40 euros, while in Valencia and Malaga, the cost is around 50 euros. In the Portuguese cities of Lisbon and Porto, dining out remains moderately priced.

Compared to other European cities, these southern destinations stand out as more affordable options. This trend continues in countries like Spain, Portugal, Croatia, and Greece, where dining out is generally more budget-friendly.

However, overall, restaurant prices have increased, particularly in Western European countries. Notable price increases are seen in Italy, Albania, and Montenegro. A dinner for two in southern European countries now costs between 45 and 60 euros.

The most expensive restaurant prices can be found in Iceland, followed by Switzerland. Iceland, Switzerland, and Denmark have the highest restaurant prices in Europe. In contrast, the cheapest countries for travelers on a tight budget to get a three-course meal and general daily expenses under roughly 25 euros include North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Poland, Albania, and Portugal. Bulgaria, in particular, offers meals and accommodation often between 20 and 25 euros daily.

The most affordable options for a three-course meal can be found in North Macedonia, Albania, and Montenegro. Even in the capital city of Skopje, a three-course meal costs under 30 euros.

As travelers plan their summer vacations, it's essential to budget for dining expenses. While some countries may have seen notable price increases, there are still affordable options available across Europe for those looking to save on dining costs.
