Council elections
The city of Detmold has announced a series of information events leading up to the election of the Integration Council, which was first established five years ago. These events aim to provide residents with valuable information about the council, its role, and the upcoming election process.
The Integration Council represents the interests of Detmold residents with a migration background and works closely with the city council, administration, and the state integration council. Its primary responsibilities include advising the city on migration-related issues, organizing its own events, and promoting intercultural dialogue.
Common topics for the Integration Council include anti-discrimination work, educational issues for children with a migration background, and dialogue between cultures. The council also plays a crucial role in fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all Detmold residents, regardless of their origin.
The first information event will take place on May 14th at the Reconciliation Church on Hiddeser Berg, Martin-Luther-Straße 39. Another information session will occur on May 15th at the Kleingaertnerverein Kampwiese in Detmold-Herberhausen. On June 11th, residents can visit the city portal's meeting center, Paulinenstraße 65, for another opportunity to learn more about the Integration Council and the election process. The final information event will be held on June 12th at the AWO in Heidenoldendorf in the old primary school, Niedernfeldweg 6.
Eligible voters in the Integration Council election are foreign nationals, stateless persons, naturalized persons, Germans with dual citizenship, and Germans who have acquired citizenship by birth in Germany. Residents of any origin who are at least 18 years old and have had their primary residence in Detmold for at least three months can be elected to the Integration Council.
