Council matches featuring HSV and St. Pauli airing live on complimentary television on the same day
The DFB-Pokal second round is set to kick off on October 28 and 29, with several exciting matches on the horizon. Here's a guide to help you follow your favourite teams, as we outline the broadcasting details for each game.
On Tuesday, October 28, both HSV and FC St. Pauli will be in action. HSV will travel to Heidenheim to face 1. FC Heidenheim at 6:30 PM, while St. Pauli will host Hoffenheim at the same time. However, it's worth noting that these games will not be available on free-to-air television. Instead, Sky will broadcast both matches, as it holds the rights for all second-round DFB-Pokal games on these dates, with a few exceptions such as Frankfurt vs. Dortmund or Köln vs. Bayern, which are indicated separately.
Speaking of which, the match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund will be broadcast by ZDF on October 28 at 6:30 PM. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated clash between 1. FC Köln and Bayern Munich will be broadcast by ARD on October 29 at 8:45 PM.
If you're a fan of the defending champions, VfB Stuttgart, you'll be pleased to know that they will face Mainz 05 on October 29 at 6:00 PM. This match will also be broadcast by Sky.
It's also worth mentioning that a lower-ranked team, FC Illertissen from the Bayern regional league, will play against 1. FC Magdeburg on October 29 at the same time as VfB Stuttgart's match. Unfortunately, this game will not be broadcast on free TV, but will also be available on Sky.
In summary, while some matches will be available on free-to-air television, many will be broadcast exclusively on Sky. Make sure to check your listings to catch all the action from the DFB-Pokal second round. Enjoy the football!
