Council Members Selection Underway
On September 14, 2025, the Integration Council election will take place in Detmold. This council plays a crucial role in ensuring the consideration of the interests of citizens with migration backgrounds in political decisions.
To be eligible to vote, individuals must meet certain criteria. They can be persons with foreign citizenship, stateless persons, Germans who hold another foreign citizenship, Germans who have acquired German citizenship through naturalization, or Germans who have acquired German citizenship by birth in Germany to foreign parents.
In addition to having the appropriate nationality, eligible voters must be at least 16 years old on election day, have lived legally in Germany for at least one year, and have their primary residence in Detmold for at least 16 days before the election. Asylum seekers and certain foreigners to whom parts of the residence law do not apply are not eligible to vote.
Voters must also meet the general requirements for eligibility to vote in Germany.

Registration for the voter registry is open until August 29. Voting for the Integration Council will occur at the respective polling station or by mail.
