On the evening of June 13, 2025, a severe traffic accident occurred on the B58 near Schermbeck. The incident involved a 63-year-old cyclist from Dorsten who tragically lost his life.
According to news aktuell, the accident occurred near the locality of Damm. A 34-year-old man from Wesel was driving a small truck on the B58 when he collided with the cyclist. The reasons for the cyclist being on the truck's lane are yet to be determined.
The Circular Police Authority Wesel, responsible for the investigation of the traffic accident on the B58 near Schermbeck, deployed a specialized accident investigation team. The B58 was closed in both directions for the duration of the investigation.
The authorities have urged motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes while the investigation is ongoing.
The cyclist sustained severe injuries and died at the scene. The police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward with information that may help in their investigation.
