In the ongoing One-Day Cup campaign, several young talents have caught the eye with their impressive performances. Ben Mayes, a teenage wicketkeeper-batter, made a stunning debut for Hampshire, scoring a rapid 74 in the first match against Glamorgan.

Meanwhile, over at Somerset, Thomas Rew and his brother James Rew have been making headlines. Thomas, who captained England U19s against India U19s this summer, scored 280 runs across five matches, including a century in the second match of the series. He also guided Somerset out of trouble in a chase of 256, scoring an unbeaten 84 off 81 balls. James Rew, the captain of the Somerset team, has also been in fine form, making his senior debut for the club this season.

Ollie Sykes, another promising youngster, has been turning heads with his performances. He followed up his half-century with a lone knock in a losing cause against Gloucestershire in the One-Day Cup. Despite falling three runs short of a century against Surrey, his 97 runs helped Surrey recover from a precarious position of 33-3. Sykes was also named School's Cricketer of the Year in 2024.

In the U19 series this summer, Isaac Mohammed hammered four sixes on his youth ODI debut against India and made a name for himself in the T20 Blast, scoring 154 runs in eight games. He also scored two half-centuries representing England U19s against India and made his first professional half-century in his second One-Day Cup game for Worcestershire.

Tazeem Ali, a county cricketer, has been another standout performer. He represented England U19s and made his List A debut in 2023. In the U19 World Cup of 2024, Ali was England's leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets at 9.64 apiece. He has played in two One Day Cup matches, taking five-fors in both. In a remarkable display against Northants, Ali took a maiden List A five-wicket haul, outshining Yuzvendra Chahal in the same match. He also bowled Warwickshire to a 79-run victory in the same match.

Alex Green, an 18-year-old cricketer, made a memorable debut in the One-Day Cup, taking his maiden List A five-for against Surrey.

These young players are not only making a name for themselves in the One-Day Cup but also showcasing their potential as future stars of English cricket.
