Crash involving a tram and a car leaves driver hurt

Yesterday afternoon, a significant traffic accident occurred in Marzahn, Berlin, involving a tram and a Mitsubishi car. The collision took place at the intersection of Märkische Allee and Raoul-Wallenberg-Straße.

According to reports, the tram was on line M6 from Marzahn Promenade, while the Mitsubishi car was heading towards Raoul-Wallenberg-Straße at the time of the accident. The tram driver, a 42-year-old woman, was not injured in the accident. However, the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 60-year-old man, sustained a leg injury and was taken to a hospital by emergency services for further treatment.

Both the tram and the car sustained visible damage in the collision. The accident resulted in significant disruptions to tram line M6 services, but these were resolved by the evening of the same day.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are being handled by a specialized traffic crime unit from Police Directorate 3 (East). The exact cause of the traffic light system malfunction at the time of the accident remains unknown.

It is worth noting that the traffic light system was out of order at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the collision. The investigation is still ongoing to determine the precise sequence of events leading up to the accident.

The accident caused delays and disruptions to traffic in the area, and police are urging motorists to exercise caution and patience as they work to clear the scene and gather evidence.

This incident serves as a reminder to all road users to be vigilant and attentive, especially at intersections and in areas where traffic signals may not be functioning correctly. Safety on our roads is everyone's responsibility.

Updates on the investigation and any further developments will be provided as they become available.
