Criminal studies student arrested with PHP 816,000 During Iloilo Drug Raid
In a significant development, a 26-year-old male resident of Core Shelter, Barangay Batad Viejo, Batad, Iloilo, was apprehended during a buy-bust operation conducted at the Batad Municipal Police Station (MPS) on August 21, 2025. The suspect, identified as Jeffrey, is a student of Bachelor of Science in Criminology.
The operation, initiated by the authorities, took place at 5:00 PM and was led by the Station Drug Enforcement Team (SDET), under the command of Police Captain John Predic C. Padilla, officer-in-charge of Batad MPS. The SDET seized 120 grams of shabu during the operation, which has a street value of P816,000.
Jeffrey was identified as a "newly identified high-value individual (HVI)" in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs in the region. It is worth noting that there is no available information indicating that Police Captain John Predic C. Padilla, Officer-In-Charge of Batad MPS, was involved in any previous drug-related operations before the one mentioned on August 21, 2025.
The operation was based on a tip from a concerned citizen, following a one-month surveillance on the suspect. The exact location of the operation was at the Core Shelter, Barangay Batad Viejo, Batad, Iloilo.
