Crook posing as artisan makes off with precious jewels in Wolfsburg
In the Fallersleben district of Wolfsburg, an elderly woman was robbed of her jewels on Tuesday morning. The police are currently investigating the incident and are on the lookout for the suspect.
According to a press release issued by the police, around 11 am, a man rang the woman's doorbell and showed her a business card with the inscription 'Waterworks'. Claiming there had been a water pipe burst that he needed to check in the bathroom, the man managed to gain access to the senior's apartment.
Once inside, the man asked the senior to hold the showerhead while he supposedly inspected the water pipes. However, after several visits to the bathroom, the man ultimately did not return, and the senior noticed that her jewelry box was missing.
The suspect is approximately 30 years old, slim, and was wearing a baseball cap, a T-shirt, and possibly gloves. He is between 1.60 to 1.70 meters tall. No witnesses or additional details about his appearance were mentioned in the earlier press release.
Witnesses who have seen suspicious persons between Wolfsburg main road and Erich-Netzeband Street are asked to contact the police in Wolfsburg. The exact nature and value of the stolen jewelry are not specified in the press release.
The police urge anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward and contact them at 05361/46460. The police are still investigating the case and are working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspect.
