Karl-May performances culminate in second-highest audience turnout recorded - Crowds flock in record numbers for Karl-May Games, falling just short of top attendance figures.

The annual Karl-May-Spiele in Bad Segeberg, Germany, concluded this year with much fanfare and emotion, marking the 46th year of the beloved outdoor theatre event.

Managing Director Ute Thienel expressed her pride in bringing joy to many people with the Karl-May-Spiele, particularly in the face of the challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic. She spoke after the finale, which was attended by around 7,500 spectators, filling the open-air theater at the Kalkberg to capacity.

This year's production, "Half-Blood," featured an ensemble including Alexander Klaws, Francis Fulton-Smith, Sonja Kirchberger, and Bastian Semm. However, it was announced that Fulton-Smith and Kirchberger will not be part of the 2026 production, while Harald Wieczorek, a long-time colleague, rode into the sunset for the last time during this year's Karl-May-Spiele.

Looking ahead, the Karl-May-Festspiele will return to Bad Segeberg in 2026 for its 73rd season, with the production titled "In the Valley of Death." Nicolas König will direct this new production, which is set to run from June 27 to September 6, 2026.

Interestingly, Alexander Klaws will reprise his role as Winnetou in "In the Valley of Death," with Milan Peschel joining him as Winnetou. The exact attendance numbers for the 2026 season have not been released yet, but it is expected to be a significant draw, given the popularity of the Karl-May-Spiele.

The enthusiasm and applause of the audience are always important to Ute Thienel, and this year was no exception. The Karl-May-Spiele attracted 445,179 spectators to the Kalkberg, just 119 fewer than the 2024 production "Winnetou II - Ribanna and Old Firehand."

As the curtain falls on another successful season, the Karl-May-Spiele in Bad Segeberg continues to captivate audiences and celebrate the enduring legacy of Karl May's works.
