CryptoZoo controversy leads to defamation lawsuit filed by Logan Paul against Coffeezilla
Logan Paul Files Defamation Lawsuit Against YouTube Personality Stephen Findeisen
In a dramatic turn of events, popular YouTuber Logan Paul has filed a defamation lawsuit against Stephen Findeisen, better known as CoffeeZilla, on June 27, 2023. The lawsuit stems from a series of videos Findeisen released in December 2022, branding Paul's involvement in the CryptoZoo project as "Logan Paul's biggest scam."
According to the lawsuit, Findeisen made false statements about Paul, including three YouTube videos about the CryptoZoo project. The lawsuit alleges that Findeisen made these statements intentionally and recklessly to enhance his own profile and increase his viewership and income.
The lawsuit further claims that Findeisen perpetuated the false narrative that Paul scammed and defrauded his own fans in connection with the CryptoZoo project. Paul, however, asserts that several of the project's trusted advisers who turned out to be conmen are to blame for CryptoZoo's failure.
Interestingly, Logan Paul spent $1 million on CryptoZoo NFT buybacks between January and March, but earned nothing from the project. He offered 0.1 ETH for each eligible CryptoZoo NFT in his NFT buyback, as reported earlier this year.
The lawsuit does not specify the amount of damages being sought, but Paul now seeks damages in excess of $75,000 plus interest. Paul also alleges that Jake Greenbaum, an adviser to the CryptoZoo project, was more interested in personal profit than creating a legitimate project.
The lawsuit against Logan Paul and others related to the CryptoZoo project accuses Paul and his partners of conducting a "rug pull," causing buyers to lose thousands of dollars. However, the court found the allegations largely unsubstantiated so far.
In addition to the allegations against Findeisen, Paul also accuses Eduardo "Eddie" Ibanez of lying about his credentials. Ibanez was involved in the CryptoZoo project as a consultant.
Logan Paul bought back CryptoZoo NFTs under the condition that holders waived any potential claims against him. The lawsuit aims to hold Findeisen accountable for his actions and to make him liable for the harm caused to Paul's reputation. Paul is expected to have the defendant cover all legal fees and additional damages and relief as determined by the court.
