First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba, Miguel Diáz-Canel Bermúdez, is currently on a three-day state visit to Vietnam. The visit, at the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Việt Nam Central Committee Tô Lâm, began on August 31.

On the afternoon of the same day, Diáz-Canel and his spouse, Lis Cuesta Peraza, visited the Military History Museum in Hà Nội. In the museum's guestbook, Diáz-Canel wrote a heartfelt message, calling it a powerful testament to the Vietnamese people's heroism and indomitable spirit. He honoured generations who devoted their lives to the cause of national liberation, independence, and defense in Việt Nam.

The Cuban leader recalled the sacrifices of Cuban soldiers who died in Việt Nam, and laid flowers at a monument dedicated to Cuban military experts who had supported Việt Nam during past struggles. The delegation was also introduced to six display themes at the museum.

Earlier in the day, they laid flowers at the statue of Cuban national hero José Martí at Tao Đàn Park in Hà Nội. Diáz-Canel noted that Việt Nam's historic achievements continue to inspire Cuba. He also highlighted that both nations share aspirations for sovereignty and social justice.

During their visit to the Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group, the Cuban delegation was briefed about the company's operations and achievements. No specific information about the personalities accompanying Diáz-Canel on his state visit could be found beyond the provided text.
