In a significant move towards modernizing public transportation, the Jihlava City Transport Company has signed a contract with the Škoda Group for the delivery of up to 20 12-metre Škoda 32Tr trolleybuses. The deal, valued at 279 million CZK, will see the delivery of these new vehicles over three phases.

The first phase, slated for September 2026, will witness the arrival of three partial trolleybuses. These units will be fitted with a traction battery, offering a range of over 15km without the need for a trolley. The remaining nine units, a combination of standard and partial trolleybuses, will be delivered within 14 months of the contract signing.

Each of these modern trolleybuses will boast an air-conditioned interior, USB sockets, information and check-in systems in both Czech and English, and a camera system with a total of eight cameras. Additionally, they will be equipped with automatic passenger counting (APC) and advanced vehicle diagnostics for real-time monitoring of operating parameters.

The Jihlava agglomeration will finance 12 vehicles through Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI), with three more vehicles paid for through the Integrated Regional Operational Program (IROP). The final phase of the project will include the delivery of any optional trolleybuses, with the purchase of four such units subsidized by the TRANSGov Modernization Fund.

The contract also includes the delivery of diagnostic equipment for the trolleybuses, encompassing hardware and software with continuous updates. This equipment will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the new trolleybus fleet.

With these modern trolleybuses, Jihlava residents can look forward to a more comfortable, efficient, and environmentally friendly public transportation system. The city's commitment to modernization and the Škoda Group's expertise in vehicle manufacturing promise a brighter future for public transportation in Jihlava.
