Daikin shifts heat pump manufacturing and associated positions from Germany to the Czech Republic

In a recent announcement, Daikin, one of the world's leading manufacturers of heat pumps, revealed plans to restructure its operations in Germany. The changes will primarily affect Daikin Manufacturing Germany GmbH, based in Güglingen, Baden-Württemberg, resulting in the loss of at least 200 jobs.

Despite the restructuring, Daikin Airconditioning Germany GmbH, responsible for sales and customer service in Germany, remains unaffected by the job cuts. The relocation of production lines is part of a broader strategy to optimise heat pump production for residential buildings within the Daikin Europe Group.

The production of Hydroboxes and Hydrokits, crucial components in air-water heat pump systems, will no longer take place in Güglingen. Instead, these components will be produced in Laatzen near Hanover and in Brno, Czech Republic. This shift aims to increase the productivity of the Daikin group and promote the wider introduction of affordable products.

The original production site in Güglingen was once Rotex, a local heating manufacturer that joined the Daikin group in 2008 and officially adopted the Daikin name in 2020. Rotex, founded in 1973, began producing heating components in 1978 and has extensive experience and expertise in its field.

Martin Krutz, Managing Director of Daikin Manufacturing Germany GmbH, attributed the weak demand for climate-friendly heat pump heating systems to fluctuating and uncertain political support in EU countries. He emphasised that the restructuring was made with a view to optimising production across Europe.

The relocation of production lines is scheduled to be completed by the end of June 2026. The process will be carried out in close coordination with the works council and IG Metall.

Daikin Manufacturing Germany GmbH's website can be found at "ct 3003", while the website "our website & ct" is also associated with the company. The company uses Peertube for video hosting.

It's important to note that the restructuring does not impact the production of heat pumps for residential buildings within the Daikin Europe Group. The Daikin plant in Güglingen is not affected by the relocation of Hydroboxes and Hydrokits production to Brno in the Czech Republic.

Heat pumps are essential for achieving CO2 neutrality in Europe. As Daikin continues to navigate these changes, it remains committed to its mission of providing efficient and sustainable heating solutions.
