On September 17, 2025, Bergisch Gladbach will host an action day focused on the topic of "Dementia". This event, held in conjunction with World Alzheimer's Day, promises a varied program that includes lectures, exhibitions, interactive activities, and information booths.

The day's activities will kick off at the Market Square from 2:30 PM, where you'll find a display called "The Radiance of Age", featuring portrait photos from the encounter centres of Caritas RheinBerg. Additionally, Care Consultation Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis will offer consultation, information, and materials. The Contact Office for Care Self-Help RBK will also have an information booth for caring relatives.

ADFC Rhein-Berg will provide an E-Tandem for trying out, and Radwerk (Caritas) will accompany the bicycle group of the Regional Office for Ageing, Care, and Dementia Bergisches Land. The bicycle group is expected to arrive at the Market Square around 3:25 PM and will be welcomed by the First Deputy Mayor Anna Maria Scheerer and other representatives.

At the same location, there will be a lecture titled "Legal representation options in dementia - legal guardianship is good, power of attorney is better" led by Claudia Freudenberger from the guardianship office of the city of Bergisch Gladbach at 12:00 PM. The Guardianship Office will also offer consultation on powers of attorney & precautions.

Stadtbücherei will have an information booth and interactive activity. At 4:00 PM, there will be a guided tour "With All Senses" at Villa Zanders, focusing on encountering selected artworks from the exhibition "Eckart Hahn: Papiertiger". Registration for this tour is required by September 15, 2025. If you're interested in attending the offer at 4:00 PM "With All Senses in Rhythm of Memory" at Villa Zanders, remember to register by the same date.

The Aging Support Office will provide information and materials. The Villa Zanders, in collaboration with the Fachstelle Älterwerden der Stadt Bergisch Gladbach and the Regionalbüro Alter, Pflege und Demenz Bergisches Land, is offering the guided tour "With All Senses" as part of the program for the action day.

Lastly, at 5:30-7:00 PM, there will be a lecture titled "Driving with dementia - assistance for relatives and interested parties" led by Nicole Sutschet, Police Sergeant and Traffic Safety Advisor of the Accident Prevention at the Volkshochschule Bergisch Gladbach.

This action day is a valuable opportunity for those affected by dementia, their families, and anyone interested in learning more about the topic. We encourage everyone to attend and take advantage of the wealth of information and resources available.
