Damage inflicted on Kransand Elevator
The Kransand leisure area in Wiesbaden is currently facing disruption following another vandalism incident on its elevator. The elevator, which offers a significant advantage to visitors and provides a direct, barrier-free connection between the Kransand area on the Rhine and the traffic hub at the bridgehead, is currently out of service.
The vandalism incident has caused severe damage to the automatic doors of the elevator, and the repair costs for this latest incident are estimated to be around 6,000 euros. Unfortunately, this is not the first time the elevator has been targeted. A significant damage was caused in a vandalism incident in June, and the repair costs for both incidents have not been provided in the given information.
ESWE Verkehr, the organization responsible for the operation of the elevator at the Kransand recreational area in Wiesbaden, reported the vandalism and the current state of the elevator. The repair and restoration of the elevator is expected to take several weeks, and the operation of the elevator is not technically possible during this period.
The outage of the elevator is causing inconvenience to visitors at the Kransand leisure area, particularly to those with mobility restrictions who benefit greatly from the elevator's services. The Wiesbaden municipal utilities (Wiesbadener Stadtbetriebe) are overseeing the repairs, and the elevator is expected to be back in service after approximately 12 weeks.
The Kransand leisure area, which has been in operation since August 2024, is currently without one of its elevators due to the vandalism. The community hopes for a quick resolution to this issue, ensuring the smooth operation of the leisure area and the convenience of its visitors.
