In a remarkable event held at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles, Propstore, a leading film and television memorabilia auction house, sold several iconic movie props for millions of dollars. The highlight of the auction was Darth Vader's lightsaber from Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, which fetched a record-breaking $3.65 million.

The lightsaber, originally used by actor David Prowse, who played Darth Vader, is the most expensive Star Wars item ever sold. It is also the only confirmed screen-used "hero" lightsaber from those movies ever offered to the public. The prop was used extensively during filming at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.

Brandon Alinger, COO of Propstore, described the sale as a landmark moment for the world of film collecting. He mentioned that the sale speaks to the enduring cultural power of Star Wars and the passion of fans and collectors.

Other notable sales included John Rambo's compound bow from Rambo III, which was sold for $94,500, and Captain America's shield from Avengers: Age of Ultron, which fetched $85,050.

The auction also saw the sale of props from other popular films such as The Lone Ranger, Pirates of the Caribbean, Men in Black, Aliens, The Lord of the Rings, and Game of Thrones.

Clayton Moore's promotional Lone Ranger Stetson hat from the classic TV series sold for $302,400, while Elizabeth Swann's Aztec medallion necklace from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl was sold for $81,900. The animatronic Billy puppet from Saw III was sold for $176,400, and Jon Snow's stunt sword from Game of Thrones was bought for $94,500.

A production-made Deadpool mask and Ace Ventura's screen-matched costume from When Nature Calls were also sold at the auction, fetching $21,420 each. Ellen Ripley's flamethrower from Aliens was sold for $252,000, and Sauron's helmet from The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring fetched $289,900.

The light-up hero Neuralyzer from Men in Black also made a significant sale, fetching $315,000 at the auction. Lastly, Harry Potter's hero wand from The Prisoner of Azkaban was sold for $81,900.

The auction of these iconic movie props not only showcases the enduring appeal of these films but also the passion of collectors who are willing to invest significant sums to own a piece of cinematic history.
