Day 4 Report at WSOP Main Event: Arsenio Karamazky among top contenders, Mizrahi staging a comeback
Day 4 of the WSOP Main Event: Drama, Doubles, and Eliminations
The fourth day of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event saw 1,476 players return to the felt, with the action heating up as the tournament progressed.
At one table, Josh Richard raised to 16,000 from early position, prompting Thi Xoa Nguen to call from the hijack. The board ran out as follows:
Richard checked, Nguen bet 50,000, and Richard called. The river brought a J♣, and Nguen bet 55,000. Sofia called with K♠K♦, but Richard had a stronger hand with J♠J♣, doubling up.
Meanwhile, the oldest participant of the Main Event, Robert Bakeman, who was born on August 17, 1944, and will turn 81 soon, managed to grind his way to Day 5 with a short stack of 195,000.
Another notable hand saw Michael Mizrachi and Safiya Umerova in a high-stakes battle. Mizrachi held a lower set, while Umerova had two overpairs. The turn and river didn't change anything, and Mizrachi doubled up.
Chip counts for Day 5 leaders were provided, including those from the PokerNews community. Notable players like Sylwia (1,345,000) and Gross (609,000) were among the top contenders.
The rule in professional poker tournaments is that players must not use their phone when they have cards in a hand. Phones must be silent and inaudible to others, and talking on the phone at the table is prohibited at any time. Additionally, recording or capturing video, photos, or audio is not allowed during play. Smart watches are also banned when a player has cards.
Despite the penalties, Ibrahim Senuissi was penalized for using a phone during a hand, incurring a round in the sit-out.
As the day wore on, drama unfolded at Table 513. In a pivotal hand, Mizrachi bet 33,000 on the flop, and Umerova raised to 66,000. Mizrachi went all-in for 169,000 and got a call. The board ran out as follows:
Umerova showed for the win, and Mizrachi was left with 639,000 chips. Umerova, on the other hand, now had a formidable stack of 1,400,000.
In another exciting hand, Maxim Pisarenko, Viktor Vladov, and David McLoughlin got into a large pot. The board ran out as follows:
Maxim liked it and put in 28,000, eliminating Vladov, but McLoughlin quickly called. Richard's brave call paid off, ending the day in the top 40 out of over 500 players.
The day concluded with one player remaining, and short-stacked players jostling for the $30,000 seat. Three players bust simultaneously, setting the stage for an exciting Day 5.
I'm not sure if casino-and-gambling activities are allowed during sports events, but the day's drama at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event was breathtaking. Michael Mizrachi and Safiya Umerova were involved in a high-stakes poker battle, with Mizrachi getting eliminated in a crucial hand, while Umerova significantly boosted her chip stack.
