Deadline Reminder for Upcoming Municipal, RVR, and Integration Council Elections on September 14, as per Election Office Guidelines

On Sunday, 14th September 2025, the local and RVR election will take place in Essen. Here's a comprehensive guide to voting in this election.

Voting at the Town Hall

Voting at the town hall Essen is possible from Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am to 4 pm and on Friday from 8:30 am to 3 pm. Voters should bring their personal ID when voting. Voting will be available until Friday, 12th September.

Postal Voting

If someone is unexpectedly prevented from voting on election day for a provable and unavoidable reason, they or a trusted third party can apply for a postal voting certificate ("Wahlzertifikat") by Friday, September 11, by 3 p.m. This requires sufficient proof of the impediment and a reliable third party to submit the application on their behalf. If a trustworthy person applies on behalf of someone else, they should have a written power of attorney until 3 pm on Sunday, 14th September.

Applications for postal voting documents should be submitted by Wednesday, 10th September. Voters who have not received or lost their postal voting documents can still go to the electoral office until Saturday, 13th September. Voting envelopes should be sent back no later than Friday, 12th September.

Polling stations 1501 and 1502 are located in the kindergarten "Humboldtpinguine", Humboldtstraße 169, 45149 Essen.

Integrations Council Election

The Integrations Council election votes will be publicly counted on Wednesday, September 17, at 10 AM at the Election Office, Kopstadtplatz 10. The preliminary results of the election can be followed online at www.our website/resultsKW2025 after the counting begins at 6 PM.

Public Counting and Voter Turnout

The public counting of the Integrations Council election votes can also be found at www.our website/press. The Election Office will publish a report on voter turnout in Essen every two hours starting at 10 AM on election Sunday at www.our website/voterturnoutKW.
