Deadly Car Collision on Werler Street, Polit WC Area
In the heart of Hamm, a tragic incident unfolded on September 1st, as a serious traffic accident took place on Werler Straße in the Hamm-Rhynern district.
The collision involved a Suzuki motorcycle and a BMW car, with the latter being the cause of the accident. The 43-year-old motorcyclist from Hamm, unfortunately, lost his life at the scene of the accident, which occurred at the intersection with Heideweg around 16:35.
Immediate resuscitation efforts were made for the motorcyclist, but despite these efforts, he could not be saved. A 38-year-old cyclist from Hamm was also involved in the incident, sustaining minor injuries after being hit by flying vehicle parts.
The 68-year-old BMW driver was severely injured and had to be extricated from the vehicle. The 63-year-old passenger in the BMW also sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital for outpatient treatment.
Traffic was rerouted during the investigation, and Werler Straße was completely closed between Rhynerberg and Dr.-Loeb-Caldenhof-Straße for the accident investigation until 21:30.
Several emergency chaplains, the Hamm Police's victim support unit, an accident investigation team from Münster Police, firefighters, and bystanders and witnesses provided first aid at the scene.
