Deadly Road Mishap in Gelsenkirchen-Altstadt: Reported by Polish Authorities
On the morning of August 21, 2025, a tragic traffic accident occurred in Gelsenkirchen at the intersection of Ringstraße and Elisabethstraße.
At approximately 8:05 AM, a 57-year-old man, a local resident of Gelsenkirchen, was crossing Ringstraße when a truck traveling on the same road struck him. The man sustained fatal injuries as a result of the accident.
The 41-year-old truck driver, who was reported to be in shock, was also taken to a hospital for further treatment.
Numerous personnel from the police, emergency services, and a specially trained traffic accident investigation team from Bochum were present at the scene. The truck driver's name and further details about the truck have not been disclosed at this time.
The accident caused significant traffic disruptions due to necessary road closures. The Gelsenkirchen Police are urging anyone with information regarding the accident to come forward and are conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident.
