Last Saturday, a significant traffic accident occurred on the A4 between Apolda and Weimar interchanges. The incident involved a Mercedes vehicle, which, according to reports, lost control and collided with the central safety barrier.

As a result of the accident, the Frankfurt-bound carriageway was closed for approximately three hours, causing delays for motorists. The Dresden-bound carriageway was closed for approximately one hour as well.

The driver of the Mercedes, a 52-year-old individual, and her 52-year-old passenger were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries. Tragically, the accident also claimed the life of a 75-year-old passenger in a separate vehicle, with one part of the safety barrier penetrating the windshield of the vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle, a 74-year-old individual, was also hospitalised with minor injuries.
