In the Wednesday edition of ZDF's popular trading show "Bares für Rares", two friends, Petra and an unidentified companion, attempted an unconventional method to settle a restaurant bill. They decided to sell Petra's aunt's exercise bike, a relic from the 1960s, on the show.

The exercise bike, identified by expert Detlev Kümmel as a "Velosan" from the Vaterland company, founded in 1906 in Neuenrade, resembled a normal bicycle with a leather saddle, a regular steel tube frame, and a front wheel with rubber tires. Interestingly, it did not have air-filled tires.

Fabian Kahl, a show participant, found the old home trainer very intriguing and immediately went for a test ride. However, Horst Lichter, another participant, expressed no interest in the exercise bike.

Initially, Walter Lehnertz offered 80 euros for the vintage bike, suspecting a higher value due to its potential as one of the first exercise bikes. After no further bids, Lehnertz raised his offer to 100 euros, a price that Petra, who had bought the exercise bike new for her aunt after a hip operation in 1966 for muscle building, found quite good. The seller was satisfied with Lehnertz's final offer, as it allowed her to settle the bill from the previous evening.

Expert Kümmel envisioned the old exercise bike as a decorative piece in a loft or fitness centre. He estimated its worth to be 150 euros, but the final sale price of 100 euros left the expert and the audience wondering about its potential value.

Despite the uncertainty, the friends were able to settle their bill, demonstrating an innovative and fun approach to financial resolutions. The search results do not provide information about who took the old exercise bike home at the end of the day, but it's safe to say that its new owner now has a unique piece of fitness history.
