In a recent development, the resident of Bielefeld was targeted in a cryptocurrency investment scam. The individual received a message about investing in cryptocurrency from a well-known person on a video platform. However, the resident suspected foul play and conducted an internet search, eventually filing a criminal complaint with the police.

The Police Headquarters Bielefeld has urged residents to be cautious when contacted by unknown persons asking for investments, especially in the realm of cryptocurrencies. The authorities advise that one should be critical of promises of high returns and always research before investing money.

The resident was directed via a link to a company related to the Social Security (Seguridad Social) in Spain, which appears to have been used in fraud messages purporting to be from the Seguridad Social. The individual was then convinced to purchase Apple Pay gift cards and cryptocurrency shares on the company's platform.

Unfortunately, when the resident attempted to withdraw winnings, they were asked for more money for supposed fees and received no payment. This incident underscores the importance of verifying the credibility of any investment platform by researching online about warnings or complaints.

The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) offers information about unserious providers on its website, providing a valuable resource for potential investors.
