In the small town of Oppersdorf, a multi-vehicle accident occurred on Kreisstraße R15 around 14:20, involving a Mitsubishi and an unknown oncoming driver.
According to the Regenstauf Police Station, the elderly driver of the Mitsubishi was exhibiting zigzag driving in Oppersdorf, which led to the incident. The driver ended up on the wrong side of the road, causing a collision with the oncoming vehicle. An oncoming driver had to pull onto the sidewalk to avoid the Mitsubishi, but a collision still occurred, leaving the Mitsubishi in the right-hand ditch and damaging a traffic sign.
The driver of the Mitsubishi has been identified, but the police are still seeking the unknown oncoming driver and other witnesses. The vehicle in question had a severely dented bumper and a broken side mirror, with an estimated damage of around 3,000 euros.
The police are investigating the elderly driver for endangering traffic due to mental or physical impairment. The driver was found to have stopped at a bus stop after the accident. The Regenstauf Police Station confiscated the man's driver's license.
No injuries were reported in the collision. The police are urging anyone who witnessed the accident, particularly the driver of the unknown oncoming vehicle, to contact the Regenstauf Police Station at 09402/9311-0.
