Decreased Air Travel Activity in Las Vegas During March
In a stark contrast to the post-pandemic surge, Harry Reid International Airport in the glitzy city of Las Vegas is facing a downward spiral in passenger traffic.
The airport witnessed a 3.9% decline in travelers in March, with just 4.84 million passengers, a noticeable drop from the 5.04 million in March 2024. This trend reflects a 3.7% overall drop for the year.
International vs. Domestic WoesThe hardest blow appears to be domestic travel, which has dipped by a considerable 4.3% in March and 4.3% for the year. On the other hand, international travel saw a milder 0.5% drop in March but has experienced an impressive 4.9% growth for the year, largely due to the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January.
Cross-Border ImpactsThe closely monitored Canadian and Mexican markets have seen a significant dent.
