In the world of Indian cinema, Vijay Deverakonda continues to make waves with his upcoming projects. Let's delve into the details of two of his upcoming films: 'Kingdom' and the period drama 'VD14'.
'Kingdom', directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, is a spy action entertainer. The film, initially announced under the working title 'VD12' in January 2023, officially received its title in February 2025. Production for 'Kingdom' began in June 2023, and the film is set to be the first installment in a two-part series.
'Kingdom' is scheduled to release on July 25, 2025, although a delay in the release is due to the need for re-shooting certain scenes. The film stars Bhagyashri Borse, Satyadev, and Koushik Mahata, and filming locations include Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Kerala, and Sri Lanka. Anirudh Ravichander, renowned for his work in Tamil cinema, is the composer for the music of 'Kingdom'.
Meanwhile, 'VD14' is a separate project for Vijay, set during the British colonial era. Details about the film's production, release date, or cast members have not been disclosed yet. However, strong rumors suggest that Rashmika Mandanna may be cast as the female lead.
It's worth noting that Vijay Deverakonda is also collaborating with director Rahul Sankrityan, known for Shyam Singha Roy, and director Ravi Kiran Kola on a romantic action drama tentatively titled 'SVC59'. This is the second time Vijay and Rahul have worked together, following their successful collaboration on the horror-comedy 'Taxiwaala'.
As for the music of 'VD14', it's not composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The current suspected digital release date for Vijay Deverakonda's film "Kingdom" is August 27 or 28, 2025, on Netflix, although an official announcement is still awaited.
