delayed onset of school commencement in select institutions impacted by the issue.
In the Valencian Community, the start of the new school year on September 8 is approaching, but for some schools in Massanassa, delays in reconstruction work continue to pose a challenge.
The CEIP L'Orba, one of the affected schools, still lacks electricity, internet connection, and is yet to receive final touches. The school grounds are also filled with cables and construction debris, posing a potential danger.
The Ausiàs March and Lluís Vives schools in Massanassa are also facing similar issues. They are still missing insulation, windows, doors, and other construction elements. The parents' association of the Lluís Vives school has expressed regret that their children's right to go to school is being postponed.
The parents' association also questions if the delays could have been avoided and claims that they were foreseeable. They recall the systematic delay of works since April. The association of the Lluís Vives school is not alone in their concerns, as parents' associations in other affected schools have also expressed uncertainty about the start of the school year.
The Minister of Education, José Antonio Rovira, has stated that the delay in the start of the school year in Massanassa would be a minimum delay. However, he is confident that the problems caused by the delay in supplies will be addressed by the end of the week.
The City Council of Massanassa has offered alternative spaces for classes in case of a delay. The Minister of Education recently visited CEIP 106 Malilla in Valencia, but there has been no specific information about the person responsible for the delays in the repair of affected schools in the Valencian Community.
The Sindicat de Treballadors i Treballadores de l'Ensenyament del País Valencià (STEPV) accuses both the Ministry of Education and the Government of Carlos Mazón of being late again. STEPV claims that ten months after the disaster, some schools in the Ribera or Utiel regions are still awaiting demolition and reconstruction.
The IES Berenguer Dalmau in Catarroja is another school that has not yet received interactive whiteboards, computers, internet, or Wi-Fi. The situation in Massanassa serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by schools affected by the disaster, and the need for swift and effective action to ensure a smooth start to the new school year.
