Delhi Court Plea Demands Police Investigation Against Sonia Gandhi for Joining Voters List Prior to Obtaining Indian Citizenship

In a recent development, a criminal complaint has been filed against Congress leader Sonia Gandhi in a Delhi court. The complaint seeks a First Information Report (FIR) against Ms. Gandhi, alleging that her name appeared in the electoral roll three years before she became an Indian citizen.

The case, which is related to allegations of Ms. Gandhi's name being included in the electoral roll before she became an Indian citizen, is being heard at the Rouse Avenue Courts. The Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) hearing the case is Vaibhav Chaurasia.

Vikas Tripathi, the complainant, alleges that Ms. Gandhi's name was included in the electoral roll in 1980, deleted in 1982, and then included again in 1983. Tripathi's lawyer argued that Ms. Gandhi's application for Indian citizenship was in April 1983, and her name was included in the electoral roll in 1980, deleted in 1982, and re-entered in 1983.

During the hearing, the counsel requested the court to pass orders for the registration of an FIR against Ms. Gandhi, arguing that a cognizable offence has been committed in relation to Ms. Gandhi's name in the electoral roll. However, the court did not take any immediate action regarding the registration of an FIR.

The court stated that the matter will be considered again next week. It is important to note that no formal notice has been issued yet to either Ms. Gandhi or the Delhi Police. Furthermore, no action has been taken by the Delhi Police in response to the complaint against Ms. Gandhi.

The inclusion of Ms. Gandhi's name in the electoral roll in 1980 is claimed to involve forged documents. However, the documents presented in 1980 for Ms. Gandhi's name registration in the voter list of the New Delhi constituency were not publicly disclosed in detail.

The court did not take any immediate action regarding the registration of an FIR. The case will be heard next on September 10. The public awaits the court's decision on this matter.
