Delivering 104 tonnes of truffles arrives at destination (Hüffermann)
In the latest issue of General Construction Newspaper 36/2025, a significant event in the transport sector has been highlighted. Three large transformers, each weighing 37 tons, were transported from a harbor to an unloading site in Bad Salzuflen, as part of a power supply strengthening project.
The transport operation was a complex one, involving semi-4-axle tractor units, 10-axle semi-trailers, a floating crane, and track mats laid down as a mobile roadway due to the entrance area's insufficient support for heavy-duty vehicles. A smaller transformer, weighing 26.8 tons, was transported on a 2-axle low-bed.
The loading operations took place at night due to strong winds and rough seas causing a delay in delivery from Turkey. Despite the challenging conditions, the process went smoothly according to the manufacturer's specifications. The heavy transport was accompanied by the police throughout the 2.5 km route.
