The Škoda Group has signed a contract with the Jihlava City Transport Company for the delivery of up to 20 12-meter Škoda 32Tr trolleybuses, marking a significant step towards modernising the city's public transport system.

The total value of the contract remains at 279 million CZK. The delivery of vehicles will still take place across three phases, with the first phase scheduled to commence in September 2025.

In the first phase, three partial trolleybuses, equipped with traction batteries, will be delivered in September 2026. The production of the remaining 12 vehicles (six standard and six partial trolleybuses equipped with traction batteries) will be delivered within 14 months of the signing of the contract.

The Jihlava City Transport Company will finance 12 vehicles with funds from the Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) of the Jihlava agglomeration. Three vehicles will be paid for by the Integrated Regional Operational Program (IROP), Jihlava. The purchase of four optional units will be made possible by a subsidy from the TRANSGov Modernization Fund.

Each unit will be equipped with automatic passenger counting (APC) and advanced vehicle diagnostics, allowing for real-time monitoring of operating parameters. The new trolleybuses will provide an air-conditioned interior, USB sockets, information and check-in systems in both Czech and English, and a camera system with a total of eight cameras to ensure safety.

The partial units will be fitted with a traction battery touting a range of over 15km without a trolley. This feature will enable the trolleybuses to operate more efficiently, particularly in areas where overhead power lines are not available.

The new trolleybuses are expected to bring greater comfort and safety to the city for passengers and will also significantly support sustainable urban mobility. They are set to play a crucial role in the modernisation of Jihlava's public transport system, contributing to a more environmentally friendly and efficient city.
