Delta Park in Greeley Reopens Showcasing Award-Winning Redesign
The City of Greeley is preparing for a grand reopening of Delta Park on September 10, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Located at 240 East 24th Street, Delta Park has undergone a major community-driven transformation, setting an example for creating vibrant and inclusive spaces across Northern Colorado.
The project at Delta Park is a demonstration of investment in places that bring people together. City leaders view it as a project rooted in community voices, prioritizing features that promote health, safety, and connection. Enhanced accessibility and walkways are part of the improvements at Delta Park.
The reopening marks the culmination of a project that turned Delta Park from an underused lot into an award-winning neighborhood centerpiece. The park was recently honoured with the 2025 Columbine Award for Design from the Colorado Parks and Recreation Association.
A key feature of the Delta Park redesign is a vibrant mural by local artist Armando Silva. The collaborative effort involved families, youth, and organisations such as the Trust for Public Land and Lutheran Family Services.
Families and neighbors can expect activities such as a brand-new playground and splash pad, Greeley Recreation's "Play on the Way" programs, the High Plains Mobile Library, henna art and a pinata, a local ice cream truck, basketballs and soccer balls to try out on the new courts and green space, and expanded green space for relaxation and picnics.
The celebration will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony and remarks from city officials. The project at Delta Park includes more than 80 new trees to improve air quality and reduce heat, contributing to the park's sustainable and eco-friendly design.
Delta Park's transformation serves as a model for neighborhood-led collaboration in Northern Colorado, demonstrating the power of community involvement in shaping public spaces. The reopening of Delta Park is not just a celebration of a successful project, but a testament to the power of community spirit and collaboration.
