Patients typically depart from a dentist's office either with a newly filled tooth cavity, or, preferably, beaming with happiness.

Dental treatment leads to state of emergency declaration

In an unexpected turn of events, a routine dental appointment in Euskirchen-Stotzheim took an unusual turn on August 25th at 5:20 PM. A 20-year-old female patient, whose identity remains undisclosed, left the dental office with an unlikely item - a metal rod instead of a usual filling or smile.

During the visit, the patient kicked doors within the dental practice and started swinging the metal rod wildly after picking it up from the sidewalk. Despite her actions, the dental practice's interior remained intact.

The patient's outburst did not end within the dental office. She targeted a 64-year-old passerby, attempting to strike her with the metal rod. However, the elderly woman managed to deflect the blow with her backpack. The patient's wrath did not subside, and she also damaged the glass entrance of a nearby residential building.

The damage to the property was estimated in the low four-figure range in euros. The 64-year-old passerby was unharmed, but the incident undoubtedly left her shaken.

The dental team's nerves were likely affected by the patient's behaviour, and the appointment ended in an unconventional manner. The 20-year-old had disappeared by the time the police arrived, and investigations have been initiated by the Criminal Police into both the attempted dangerous bodily harm and the property damage.

This incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability that can sometimes occur in everyday situations, and we hope for a swift resolution to this unusual case.
