Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) and Government of Andhra Pradesh's Green Energy and Environment Department (GEAPP) Ink Agreement to Boost Climate-Tech Startups; Unveil ENTICE Competition with Prizes Worth up to USD 500,000
The partnership between Global Energy Application Promotion Programme (GEAPP) and Startup India, signed on 17 May 2025, marks a significant milestone in India's journey towards a cleaner energy future. The MoU, officially inked by Dr. Sumeet Jarangal from Startup India and Saurabh Kumar, Vice President - India at GEAPP, aims to help clean energy startups scale their innovations.
Saurabh Kumar believes that this collaboration will create new pathways for clean energy entrepreneurship by combining GEAPP's international expertise with the reach of Startup India and the institutional support of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
Sanjiv, Joint Secretary at DPIIT, emphasised the importance of strong entrepreneurship in supporting India's leadership in climate action. He stated that this partnership will significantly contribute to India's net-zero vision through clean energy startups.
The ecosystem partners providing investment in startups under the partnership agreement with DPIIT include venture capital firms, angel investors, private equity funds, corporate investors, and government-backed funding agencies.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from both sides, highlighting the importance of this collaboration. Saurabh Kumar expressed his optimism, stating that this partnership is a crucial step towards systemic change in clean energy entrepreneurship.
The first publication of the MoU was on 17 May 2025, 11:57 IST, signalling the start of an exciting new chapter in India's clean energy journey. This partnership is expected to foster innovation, encourage investment, and drive the growth of clean energy startups in India, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
