Wiesbaden's Schlossplatz Elevator Suffers Vandalism, Undergoes Repairs

A lift located at Schlossplatz 6 in the State Capital Wiesbaden, connecting the Kransand area on the Rhine and the transport hub at the Mainz-Kastel Bridgehead, has been out of service since August 2023 due to severe damage.

The press release about the elevator was issued by the Press Office of the State Capital Wiesbaden on August 1, 2023. According to the statement, vandalism caused significant damage to the automatic doors in June, leading to the elevator's inoperability. The total repair costs for the damage are estimated to be around 6,000 euros.

The repair of the damaged automatic doors is expected to take approximately twelve weeks. During this period, the operation of the elevator is not technically possible. The press office website for further information is www.wiesbaden.de/pressereferat.

The elevator, commissioned in August 2024, offers a direct, barrier-free connection and is particularly beneficial for passengers at the Mainz-Kastel Bridgehead, providing a significant advantage for mobility-impaired people.

Citizens with questions regarding the elevator can contact the responsible department or office for more information. Despite the current repair works, the elevator will continue to serve its purpose once restored, connecting the two areas and enhancing the city's accessibility.
