Mercedes-AMG Unveils 2023 GT and High-Performance GT 63 Pro
Mercedes-AMG, the high-performance subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz, has announced the release of two new models – the 2023 Mercedes-AMG GT and the GT 63 Pro for 2024. Both vehicles offer unique features and impressive performance.
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG GT presents a range of customisation options, with 11 paint colours, eight wheel designs in sizes 20 or 21 inches, and five exterior design packages available for customers. This model is more independent than its platform sibling, the SL, with distinctive features like a lower grille, different headlights, and horizontal taillights.
The cockpit of the 2023 Mercedes-AMG GT is similar to that of the SL, featuring an 11.9-inch touchscreen powered by the MBUX system and standard smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Active aerodynamics, including a two-part, active air management system and a deployable rear spoiler with five different angle settings above 80 km/h, ensure better stability and improved handling.
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG GT maintains the powertrain's raw character, but the model lacks the radical, unbridled character of its predecessor, making it more approachable and easier to explore its limits.
The GT 63 Pro, set for release in 2024, is a high-performance variant of the GT 63. This model boasts a 4.0L V8 engine producing 612 PS and 850 Nm of torque. The GT 63 Pro accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in an astonishing 3.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 317 km/h. Aerodynamic optimizations on the GT 63 Pro increase downforce, enabling more precise cornering.
The GT 63 Pro also features additional cooling systems and electric water pumps for improved stability during intense use. For superior braking, it comes equipped with a ceramic composite brake system with six-piston calipers at the front and single-piston calipers at the rear.
Mercedes-AMG has also introduced the GT 63 S E Performance for 2024, an electrified version of the GT 63 S. This model boasts a combined system output of 816 PS. The electric motor is integrated into the rear axle, enabling rear-wheel drive and allowing the driveshaft to power the front wheels only when necessary. The GT 63 S E Performance accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 315 km/h. It also has a battery capacity of 6.1 kWh and can travel up to 15 km on electric power alone.
Lastly, Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the Mercedes-AMG Concept AMG GT Track Sport. This track-focused version of the Mercedes-AMG GT features a V8 engine, but performance data and hybrid information are not yet provided.
These new models from Mercedes-AMG offer an exciting range of options for those seeking high-performance vehicles with cutting-edge technology and customisation options.
