In the heart of Düsseldorf, the city's annual Carnival celebration got underway with a unique twist this year. The festivities began with a joint celebration on Sunday evening, as Jacques Tilly and his team unveiled their two election-themed floats, named "Future without coal" and "Election circus."

The floats, which will represent the current federal election results, were blessed by City Dean Frank Heidkamp during the ceremony. Heidkamp, in his prayer, wished for good weather, colorful diversity, community, and peaceful Carnival days.

The topping-out ceremony for the floats was held a day earlier than originally scheduled due to the early federal elections. City Dean Heidkamp encouraged everyone not to let laughter and joy be taken away during uncertain times.

During the ceremony, the Uzbrothers, who had already invited for their own topping-out ceremony on the same day, joined in for a joint celebration. The event included various colorful program points, such as music, traditional pea soup from Dauser, and a performance by the dance guard of the Schlossturm guard and the Narrous Triumvirate.

The head of the procession, Michael Faustmann, welcomed the guests, followed by remarks from CC President Lothar Höhring. Höhring made light-hearted comments about changes made by float builders due to TÜV inspections. Dieter Müller, the float-building hall leader, humorously stated that Jenny Krieger, the first woman to join the procession leadership, is being groomed to be his successor in three years.

Krieger's inclusion in the procession leadership was one of the highlights of the event, as she joins a traditionally male-dominated group. The celebration concluded with "Düsseldorf Helau" being sung by the Prince's pair and the Hoppeditz mascot.

As the Carnival season continues, people in Düsseldorf and worldwide can look forward to surprises from the theme floats on Rosenmontag (3rd of March). The floats promise to be a reflection of the current political climate, offering a unique perspective on the federal election.
