Discovered after 82 years: 1943 library book reappears - Discovered: Long-Lost 1943 Text Returns After 82-Year Absence

In an extraordinary turn of events, a copy of the book "Your Child, His Family, and Friends" has been returned to the San Antonio Public Library, marking the end of an 82-year-long mystery. The book, written by family therapist Frances Bruce Strain, was originally borrowed from the library on July 30, 1943.

The book was found by a person in Oregon, who suspects that their grandmother, then about 11 years old, may have borrowed the book when her grandson was 11 years old. The book was found among the deceased man's belongings after his death.

The book was due back after 28 days, but due to its extended absence, the late fee would have amounted to almost $900 if it were still in place. Fortunately, late fees for overdue books were abolished at the San Antonio Public Library four years ago.

Upon its return, the book will be displayed in the lobby of the library before being moved to the "Book Cellar", the second-hand bookstore in the basement of the Central Library. The copy of "Your Child, His Family, and Friends" will be sold by the Friends of San Antonio Public Library, with the proceeds benefiting the library.

Before the sale, the book will be on display for the public to appreciate its history. The sender of the book, who found it among his father's belongings, hopes there is no late fee for the 82-year overdue book. He expresses his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the library that his family has unknowingly been a part of for so long.

The San Antonio Public Library expresses its appreciation for the return of the book and looks forward to the sale, which will further support its mission to provide resources for the community. The library invites everyone to visit and witness this unique event in its history.
