Elderly Car Enthusiast in Newport Beach, California, Offers Rare and Low-Mileage Vehicle Collection
An 88-year-old car collector in Newport Beach, California, is bidding farewell to his prized collection of automobiles, which spans everything from American muscle to exotic sports cars. The collection, which has been consigned to Canadian dealer Silver Arrow Cars, includes a 2000 Ferrari 550 Maranello, a 2002 BMW M5, and a 2006 Ford GT, among other rare and low-mileage classics from past decades.
The star of the collection is undoubtedly the 1973 De Tomaso Pantera, a low-mileage example of the Italian-designed sports car. This vehicle, along with the rest of the collection, has been meticulously restored to near-showroom condition.
The Ferrari 550 Maranello, finished in Nart Blue with a tan leather cabin, has been stored for 25 years and shows only 564 miles (908 km). It is one of the most sought-after Ferraris of the late '90s and early 2000s, and this particular example is sure to attract attention.
The 2006 Ford GT, painted in red with white stripes and a black interior, is another standout in the collection. This vehicle, which has never been registered and shows only 720 miles (1,159 km), is powered by a mid-mounted supercharged 5.4-liter V8, delivering 550 hp (410 kW / 558 PS). Its Ricardo six-speed manual gearbox transmits power to the rear wheels.
The 2002 BMW M5 is often regarded as one of the best sports sedans ever built. This particular example, which has been driven for 4,249 miles (6,838 km) and has remained with its original owner, is no exception.
In addition to these headline-grabbing vehicles, the collection also includes multiple Corvette generations, several Bricklin SV-1s, a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T, a Dodge Viper GTS, a Plymouth Prowler, and a Dodge Ram SRT-10 pickup. Some vehicles in the collection may finally see the road again after being preserved in near-new condition.
The buyer of the 2002 BMW M5 and the 2006 Ford GT from the collector's catalog in Newport Beach, California, has not been publicly disclosed. The 2006 Ford GT was consigned to Canadian dealer Silver Arrow Cars, and interested buyers are encouraged to contact them for more information.
