Discussed potential funding for a robotics facility by the Commission.
The BiFAR Robotics Center, located on the Asas site in Neuwied, recently attracted attention from experts in the Ministry of Economy of Rhineland-Palatinate. The center demonstrated environmentally friendly production processes, industrial robotics, special drones for transporting medicines, self-driving transport systems, and "cobots" supporting human labor.
During the visit, District Administrator Achim Hallerbach, Mayor Jan Einig, and Professor Karl Stoffel, President of the University of Koblenz, were present. The project is also supported by Professor Udo Gnasa of the University of Kobland, the city of Neuwied, and economic promotions from the districts of Mayen-Koblenz and Neuwied.
The participants, including Asas GmbH, Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, Landrat Achim Hallerbach, Universal Robots, Koblenz University of Applied Sciences, and Neuwied County, were delighted with the significant interest in the planned Robotics Center.
Minister for Economy of Rhineland-Palatinate, Daniela Schmitt, was also present during the inspection of the center. Professor Karl Stoffel summarized his impression and motivation for the BiFAR Robotics Center: "Our goal is to create a unique and highly forward-looking education and application site in our region and beyond, dedicated to the mastery and everyday use of robotics."
Before the presentation, Professor Gnasa and his Trier colleague had "intensive and very good discussions." Dr. Martin Hummrich, head of the department for small and medium-sized enterprises, industry, and innovation, and Stefanie Nauel for the areas of skilled workers and innovation from the Ministry of Economy, also visited the site.
Carolin Ziegle, who is responsible for regional structural policy and conversion in the Ministry of Economy, also accompanied the visit. Ellen Demuth and Stefan Wefelscheid, members of the state parliament, also visited the site to see the progress of the BiFAR Robotics Center.
The top representatives from politics and business were able to see these demonstrations during their visit. The BiFAR Robotics Center presented five "hands-on" exhibits from cooperation companies, including Patika Robotics, EmQopter, Universal Robots, and a team from the University of Trier/Birkenfeld led by Professor Matthias Vette-Steinkamp.
District Administrator Achim Hallerbach expressed his confidence that the meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Economy was the starting point for further productive discussions in favor of the planned Robotics Center.
