In the heart of Geneva, the shores of Lake Geneva serving as a backdrop, the seminar on Safe Mobility 4 All and 4 Life concluded with a formal recognition ceremony for the 38 graduates of the programme.

The event, opened by Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger and State Secretary Sepp Schellhorn, marked a significant milestone in the commitment to road safety and sustainability. Delegates from 13 Clubs in Regions III and IV participated in the seminar, each bringing unique road safety projects from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay.

Throughout the seminar, the importance of monitoring and evaluation, and the role of Clubs as key facilitators within the road safety ecosystem, were emphasized. A mentorship session focused on the Safe System approach was part of the programme, providing valuable insights for the participants.

The seminar also included thematic panels on safe and sustainable mobility, workshops for discussing Club strategies for the short and medium term, and a guided tour of the Palais des Nations. This served as a reminder of the global commitment to diplomacy and collaboration.

Senate President Carmelo Sanz de Barros, Region IV President Ricardo Morales, General Manager Alberto Villarreal Gutierrez, Secretary General for Automobile Mobility Willem Groenewald, and Michelle Gyles-McDonnough, United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNITAR, addressed participants on the closing day of the training. Alex Mejiá, Division for People Director at UNITAR, also spoke at the event.

President Mohammed Ben Sulayem joined the participants in Geneva to reflect on the achievements of the initiative. He emphasized that these projects aim to deliver tangible improvements on the ground and serve as a foundation for building a strong community of practice.

The Safe Mobility 4 All and 4 Life initiative reflects the continued commitment to supporting Member Clubs and national stakeholders through targeted capacity-building and international collaboration. The 19 Club delegates and 19 public authority representatives each completed more than 100 hours of e-learning, attended three in-person seminars, and collaborated with international road safety experts to design 13 national-level projects.

As the seminar comes to a close, the focus now shifts to the implementation of these projects, with the hope that they will contribute significantly to road safety and sustainable mobility efforts worldwide.
