Discussion on the direction of the legislative term held between the Presidency and Puigdemont, both taking place in Brussels.
On Wednesday morning, the permanent executive commission of the independentist party, Junts, held a meeting in Waterloo, Belgium. The gathering was attended by several key figures, including Carles Puigdemont, the former President of the Generalitat and leader of Junts, as well as Jordi Sànchez, Laura Borràs, Josep Rius, Elsa Artadi, and Lluís Puig.
The meeting preceded the National Executive Board, which took place in the afternoon, and was also attended by notable figures such as Albert Batet, the president of the Parliamentary group, Mònica Sales, the spokesperson in the Parliament, Miriam Nogueras, the leader in Congress, Toni Comín, the former Euro-deputy, Josep Rull, the president of the Parliament, and Eduard Pujol, the spokesperson in the Senate.
During the meeting, the strategy of the independentist group, both in Congress and in the Parliament, was set. The party positioned itself as an alternative to the "process of denationalization" and impoverishment of the country.
One of the main topics of discussion was the next steps for the General State Budgets (PGE). Junts stated that they will not negotiate unless the "debt" accumulated by Catalonia is recognized. In addition, the party expressed the need to issue a check for the unexecuted budgetary items to the Generalitat of Catalonia, as proposed by Jordi Turull, the secretary general of Junts.
The meeting also assessed the Brussels Agreement of 2023, which Junts agreed to in order to facilitate the investiture of Pedro Sánchez. The members discussed the analysis of the meeting held the previous day between President Salvador Illa and Puigdemont in Brussels.
It's important to note that this functionality is only available for registered users, and for subscribers. Deputies in the autonomic chamber are summoned for September 15 and 16, also in Belgium, in a format that allows Puigdemont to preside and lead the meetings in person.
However, no significant decisions were made during the meeting. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the party's commitment to advocating for the rights and interests of Catalonia.
