Disney's new trailer for Lilo & Stitch unveils another triumphant achievement in their cinematic journey
The first trailer for Disney's upcoming live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch was released recently, and it has already made a significant impact. However, it seems the trailer might indicate a decline in the impact of Disney's remakes, as it ranks second in views among the studio's live-action remakes to date.
The Lilo & Stitch remake trailer garnered 158 million views within 24 hours, making it the second-biggest trailer for Disney's live-action remakes. This figure is impressive, but it falls short of the record held by The Lion King remake's teaser trailer, which boasted an impressive 224.6 million views.
Interestingly, the short teaser featuring Stitch during the Super Bowl had 173.1 million views in 24 hours, making it the most-viewed digital spot for Disney. This teaser took the top trending spot on Twitter, YouTube, and China's Douyin platform, further highlighting the anticipation for the upcoming remake.
Despite the lower view count compared to The Lion King, the Lilo & Stitch remake is expected to be a hit. The release of the remake may encourage younger generations to watch the original animated version, providing a unique opportunity for both the new and classic versions to reach a wider audience.
The rights to the 2025 live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch are held by Walt Disney Pictures, and the film is produced by Jonathan Eirich and Dan Lin. The release date for the remake is set for May 23.
