Disruption during off-camera conversation with Söder during summer interview
In the heart of Berlin, a demonstration attempted to disrupt the peace during an ARD "summer interview" with CSU party leader Markus Söder. Approximately 20 to 30 individuals from the right-wing scene, identified as political art activists, attempted to demonstrate during the live broadcast.
The police intervened quickly, thanks to a deployment unit that was already on site, and five troublemakers were temporarily taken into custody. The demonstrators threw flyers during the incident, causing a brief disturbance.
This incident follows a similar protest during a live ARD interview with AfD chairwoman Alice Weidel on July 20. After the incident, ARD stated that it had tightened its security measures to ensure a disturbance-free interview.
ARD, in close cooperation with responsible security authorities, has taken both technical and editorial measures to maintain the integrity of its interviews. The "summer interview" is traditionally recorded on the terrace of the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus of the Bundestag.
Elsewhere in Hamm, a separate news story unfolded. A shop thief made a daring leap into the Datteln-Hamm canal. The new incident occurred around 12:35 PM.
Meanwhile, ASV Hamm-Westfalen started the new season on a high note. The team secured a derby win, marking a promising start to the season.
