In the heart of Berlin's government district, a new incident unfolded during an ARD "summer interview." On this occasion, the CSU party leader, Markus Söder, was the guest of honour.

The interview, traditionally recorded on the terrace of the Marie-Elisabeth-Lüders-Haus of the Bundestag, was disrupted by a group of approximately 20 to 30 individuals from the right-wing scene. The right-wing extremist Identitarian Movement claimed responsibility for the action and spread a video of the incident online.

The protest took place at around 12:35 PM, and the protesters attempted to disrupt the interview by throwing flyers and making loud noises. However, a riot unit was already on site, allowing for a quick police intervention to end the unauthorized action.

It is worth noting that this incident occurred on a different day than the previous protest action during a live-streamed interview with AfD leader Alice Weidel on July 20th. The action during the Weidel interview was organised by self-proclaimed political art activists from the Center for Political Beauty.

ARD confirmed that the interview with Markus Söder was recorded without any disturbances, despite the incident. The broadcaster has tightened their security measures after the incidents, working closely with responsible security authorities to ensure disturbance-free interviews.

Five protesters were temporarily detained during the incident, and it is unclear whether any charges have been filed. The protesters were identified as being from the right-wing scene, and the location of the incident was a federal building's open space in the Berlin government district.

The ARD "summer interview" series aims to provide in-depth conversations with key political figures, and this latest incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced in maintaining a peaceful and orderly environment for such events.
