Disruption of Rail Crossing at Kaulardstraße
From April 12 to April 17, 2025, train line 18 in Cologne will be suspended due to track work by the Hafen and Goods Traffic Cologne AG (HGK). Here's what commuters and residents can expect during this period.
Train Services
Line 18, which typically runs between Bonn Hauptbahnhof and Klettenbergpark, will be temporarily replaced by bus services, designated as "line 118," between Klettenbergpark and Hürth-Hermülheim. The normal departure times will apply in the direction of Cologne, but from Hürth-Hermülheim, the service will return to Bonn Hauptbahnhof.
During the closure, city bus line 712 trips will end at the Efferen Stadtbahn stop. The line will be rerouted via Bahnstraße, Beselerstraße, and Bachstraße. For the four other stops that are not served during the closure (Kolpingstraße, Zum Sonnenwinkel, Hahnenstraße, Robert-Bosch-Straße, and Kalscheurener Straße), commuters can use the Efferen Stadtbahn stop as an alternative.
Road Traffic
Detours will be signposted for road traffic throughout the affected area. The Kaulardstraße railway crossing in Hürth-Efferen will also be closed during this period.
Pedestrian Access
Pedestrians can pass through the closed area without any restrictions.
Communication to Residents
Residents will be informed about the closure by mailings from the HGK.
For more information, commuters are advised to stay updated with the latest announcements from the HGK.
