Diverse Summer Education Programs

In the heart of summer, primary education centres across the province of Malaga are buzzing with activity as they host inclusive summer schools. These summer schools, managed by local associations with extensive experience in social programmes, aim to help children from vulnerable backgrounds.

With an investment of €850,000, 25 summer schools have been running in 10 municipalities, including Malaga, Marbella, Ronda, Torremolinos, Antequera, and Velez-Malaga. The initiative is part of the Solidarity and Food Guarantee Programme of the regional Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality, and is designed to keep minors active and engaged during the holidays.

More than 1,300 children from vulnerable backgrounds have participated in these summer schools, with approximately 150 professionals hired to ensure the programme's success. Each centre combines fun, learning, and care, providing education, leisure, and ensuring that each child receives at least three meals a day.

The summer schools are inclusive spaces for children with different needs, offering educational reinforcement, as well as cultural, sports, and creative activities. The initiative also provides essential support for parents in reconciling family and professional life.

The names of the local associations involved in the management of the 25 summer schools are not publicly specified. However, it is known that the initiative is being implemented in various municipalities in the province of Malaga, including Velez-Malaga, where dozens of minors have joined these summer schools.

The summer schools are one of the efforts to combat food insecurity among children. By offering a safe and nurturing environment, these summer schools ensure that children from vulnerable backgrounds have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive during the summer months.
