Doncic scores 39 points, yet it falls short of the mark

In EuroBasket 2025, despite Luka Doncic's impressive 39 points and nine assists, Slovenia suffered a 103-95 defeat at the hands of France. This loss leaves France as the only undefeated team in the tournament.

Doncic scores 39 points, yet it falls short of the mark

In the ongoing EuroBasket 2025 tournament, several thrilling games have taken place, with some teams securing their spots in the knockout phase.

Greece, missing key players Giannis Antetokounmpo, Tyler Dorsey, and Konstantinos Mitoglou, dominated Cyprus. Despite their absence, three players scored 18 points each to lead Greece to a victory. Poland also stayed perfect in the tournament, edging Israel 66-64 in a separate game. However, Latvia slipped to 1-2 in Group A after their loss.

Serbia moved to 3-0 in Group A, booking a knockout phase spot with two games to spare. Their standout player was Nikola Jokic, who delivered a masterclass with 39 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists in Serbia's win over Latvia.

In Group D, France improved to 2-0 after a convincing victory against Slovenia. The leading player for France was Guerschon Yabusele, who served as the team captain and scored 36 points in the victory. France's point guard Sylvain Francisco came off the bench to score 32 points, contributing to France's victory. The second unit of France combined for 78 points against Slovenia's reserves, who scored only 26 points.

Notable individual performances included LUKA Doncic's 39 points in a game against France, pushing his career international points total over 1,000 for Slovenia. Doncic's team, however, suffered a loss, making their record 0-2. Doncic's teammate Zaccharie Risacher of the Atlanta Hawks scored 12 points for France in the game.

The Washington Wizards duo of Bilal Coulibaly and Alex Sarr added 25 points each to France's total. Germany hit 19-of-35 from deep at 54 percent in their game against Lithuania, with Dennis Schroeder scoring 26 points and six assists to secure Germany's progression.

Turkey also advanced to 3-0 in Group A after routing Portugal. Alperen Sengun scored all 20 of his points in the first half for Turkey, while Simone Fontecchio scored 14 points in Italy's win over Georgia, leaving both teams at 1-1.

In a separate game, Finland (3-0) advanced in the tournament with a win over Montenegro, with Lauri Markkanen scoring 26 points. Spain (1-1) bounced back with a win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, Santi Aldama leading with 19 points. Sweden (1-2) notched its first win, defeating winless Britain.

Amidst the competitive games, two fans were ejected for racist abuse towards Schroeder, who shrugged off the incident and drained five triples in the game.

As the tournament progresses, teams are fighting hard for their spots in the knockout phase, with exciting games and individual performances making EuroBasket 2025 a tournament to watch.
